About this course
For roughly five centuries, scholars across China and Vietnam maintained two parallel systems of observation: one concerned with place, the other with time. Feng Shui studied how built and natural environments shaped daily life. Zi Wei Astrology mapped the structure of a life against a calendar. Both were taught in court academies, recorded in manuals, and passed down through families.
This course treats those systems as cultural heritage. You will learn where they came from, the philosophical vocabulary they rely on — Yin and Yang, the Five Elements, Qi — and how that vocabulary shaped architecture, city planning, and household custom across the region.
